Shipping Options for Moving from UK to Canada

 

Before your relocation to Canada, your move consultant will discuss with you whether you will require a 20ft or 40ft container. Depending on your volume of goods to be moved, we may offer you our door-to-door service for a full container load (FCL) or less container load (LCL).

 

With an FCL, you will have exclusive use of a container and your items will be loaded and shipped directly on the next sailing slot available. Transit times for moves to Toronto or Montreal are usually within about 15 to 20 days. For Vancouver, transit can take up to approximately 30 days and times can vary for other destinations. Your move consultant will be able to give you greater insight into relevant delivery schedules.

 

If have slightly more flexibility with delivery dates and your load does not consist of a full house’s contents, an LCL option would be a more suitable, more cost-effective option. This means your goods will form part of a shared (groupage) consignment. Transit times with groupage consignments are, however, slightly longer.

 

If you have a few items only to transport, forwarding them by air freight is another, faster option to explore.

Customs

 

Upon arrival in Canada, your goods must be cleared by customs before delivery to your new house. Please note that clearance may take up to between 5 and 10 days and you must also be present for your effects to clear customs.
